FFP3 masks are the most effective protection against bacteria, viruses (and therefore against the novel coronavirus), mold spores and toxic fine particles, as FFP3-rated masks must capture at least 99% of airborne particles.

  • What should I know before purchasing FFP3 mask?

  • How to use FFP3 mask correctly?

  • When do I need to replace the FFP3 masks?

What should I know before purchasing FFP3 mask?

Respirators are manufactured in three filter grades: FFP1 masks, FFP2 masks and FFP3 masks, while the acronym FFP itself comes from the term "Filtering Face Piece".

Before buying, you need to know what the mask is for (i.e. what it should specifically protect us from), and then adjust your choice accordingly. If you want to protect yourself from COVID-19, choose a COVID-19, FFP3 or FFP2 grade mask (you should keep in mind that only some masks of this grade can filter coronavirus-sized particles). If you work in a dusty environment and want to protect your respiratory tract, a mask rated FFP1 will provide adequate protection.

How to use FFP3 mask correctly?

Before entering potentially contaminated areas, you need to put on the FFP3 mask properly. For this you need:

Holding the FFP3 mask in one hand, turn the nose clip upwards.

Rest the bottom of the FFP3 mask against your chin while pulling the two straps over your head with your other hand. The bottom strap should go across your neck just below your ears. The top strap should be on your head, above your ears.

Carefully adjust the FFP3 mask to your face without leaving any gaps between the mask and your face.

Adjust the nose clip with both hands, making sure the nose clip is securely tightened. It is not recommended to pinch it with only one hand, as this may affect the tightness of the FFP3 mask.

Finally, place your hands on the FFP3 mask so that it does not affect its position, and exhale quickly to check that you have done all the steps correctly. Follow the steps above to adjust the nose clip or the entire FFP3 mask accordingly, depending on where you fill the air through. If there are no gaps for air to pass through, you have put on the FFP3 mask correctly.

When do I need to replace the FFP3 masks?

1FFP3 mask is contaminated, such as blood stains or droplets.

2. When the user feels that the respiratory resistance increases when using FFP3 mask.

3. FFP3 mask is damaged.

4. There is a problem with the dust filter cotton. When the FFP3 mask fits well with the user's face, when the user feels great respiratory resistance, it indicates that the filter cotton is full of dust particles, and the mask should be replaced.

5. When the FFP3 mask fits well with the user's face, when the user smells the smell of poison, it's time to replace it.
